What comes next? I'm guessing it's back to the horrors of war
Even during a ceasefire, the fear and pain don’t stop. The temporary pause in fighting has simply allowed a brief opportunity for Palestinians and those inside Gaza to witness the wreckage of six weeks of nonstop bombardment which has already killed over 15,000 people in the area, including over 80 humanitarian aid workers, more than 200 medical professionals, and 8,000+ children.
A correspondent for the Arabic language channel Al-Mashhad TV reported from inside Al-Nasr Children's Hospital in Gaza where the decomposing bodies of several premature babies were discovered. The newborns were left alone in the hospital after the apartheid state bombed the neighborhood and forced doctors and medical staff to flee. Earlier this month, all medical staff were forced to evacuate sick and injured patients at the hospital as Israel shelled the surrounding area and the Israeli military ordered everyone to leave, in spite of the logistical impossibilities of evacuating some patients and babies hooked up to machines.
Western outlets are pointing out the shortage of logic from the leadership of the apartheid state. As hostages are being released and reunited with their families, Israel continues to make claims equating Hamas to ISIS and likening the Palestinian armed resistance group to the Islamic State. The regime has even compared their genocidal and fruitless mission to ‘defeat Hamas’ to the American-led campaign to defeat ISIS in Iraq, Syria, and wherever else the US felt like bombing.
Meanwhile Biden called for an end to the war (?), saying a continuation of violence only benefits Hamas, which seems contrary to his previous claims that a ceasefire would only benefit Hamas. Folks, it’s starting to look like maybe Biden doesn’t have a clear grasp on things. The coming days will truly determine just how much more painful the coming weeks and months may be.
Side Items
Elon Goes Home: As always The Onion provides excellent coverage of the happenings in the apartheid state, including the billionaire’s recent visit. I wouldn’t be surprised if the man buys a(nother) summer home on stolen land
The Mavs & Kyrie: Las Vegas casino magnate and uber-zionist Miriam Adelson is in final discussions to purchase a majority stake in the NBA's Dallas Mavericks from current owner Mark Cuban. The Mavs of course currently employ Kyrie Irving, the often-controversial basketball star who has publicly worn a keffiyah in a post-game press conference. We’ll see how that combination fares (probably not great)
Tiny Home Mania: This interesting read discusses the use of tiny homes to help battle the national issue of homelessness. Personally I’m pro-tiny home, much for the same reason I’m pro-tiny horse. They still function in the same way and provide much of the same value
