Wednesday, January 10: Waiting for Justice
Tomorrow's hearing at the International Court of Justice will be illuminating
Yesterday, San Francisco became the largest American city to call for a ceasefire, voting 8-3 in support of a resolution. Chicago will allegedly be holding a similar vote in 2 weeks to determine whether or not the elected officials here are ok with funding the mass murder of Palestinians. Why they’re waiting two more weeks is beyond me, hundreds if not thousands of Palestinians will be killed during that stretch, but I guess the 24th is the earliest these cowards could pencil in a conversation about it.
Tomorrow is the highly-anticipated hearing at the International Court of Justice on Israel’s genocidal intentions. Today we sit and wait to learn if the entire fabric of international law and human rights has been completely dismissed by western powers. I’m not a betting man, but I’m having a hard time believing that the US and other supporters of ethnic cleansing will suddenly see the errors in their genocidal ways. In all likelihood, the Israeli delegation will play the victim and disregard any valid criticism as antisemitism.
While we wait for this hearing and the eventual outcome, the apartheid state continues to decimate Gaza and terrorize the West Bank. Dozens of innocent people are dying every day, from the endless violence and starvation alike, and no hearing will reach a conclusion in time to save their lives or the tens of thousands of lives already lost.

Hasid Tunnels in NYC: This is both the most hilarious story of 2024 (so far) as well as a potentially touchy subject due to many low-IQ folks using it as an opportunity to spout blatant antisemitism. Apparently the hardworking piglets of the NYPD discovered a secret tunnel under the global headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement in Crown Heights, Brooklyn earlier this week. The Hasidic Jewish temple leaders claim that young men in the community recently began building the passage in secret. When religious leaders tried to seal it off on Monday, congregants staged a protest that turned violent as police came in and made arrests. I don’t really care who you are, what religious faith or primary motivation, if you’re digging tunnels, whether for liberation, religious purposes, your job, or simply just boredom, then you are fulfilling an ancient human desire and you’re guaranteed at least a small portion of my respect. In the words of Kissin’ Kate’s grandfather, “you keep digging!”
Glacial Ice for the UAE: This article tells the story of a startup in Greenland that harvests glacial ice from local fjords and ships them halfway around the world to the United Arab Emirates to be sold to exclusive cocktail bars. If you needed a more clear and obvious sign of the impending climate collapse, I reckon this is a solid place to start
