A 24-year-old man down in Texas has been linked to an unusual string of crimes that kept the Dallas Zoo on the lookout for missing animals. Davion Irvin was arrested last week and remains jailed on $25,000 bond, after kidnapping two emperor tamarin monkeys (monkey-napping?) from their enclosure and escaping detection.
The young brother cut the metal mesh fence of their cage and swiped these two adorable monkeys, taking them onto the city’s light rail system to make his getaway. I’m picturing kind of a “Baby’s Day Out” situation, not the worst thing in the world if these animals were unharmed. The animals were discovered at an empty home in Lancaster, a Dallas suburb about 15 miles south of the zoo. Multiple cats and pigeons were also found in the home, in addition to dead feeder fish and fish food that had disappeared from the zoo. It raises memory of a certain Matt Damon film (not Good Will Hunting).
Poor Davion was eventually arrested after asking suspicious questions about animal care and raising suspicions at a downtown Dallas aquarium. He is charged with six counts of animal cruelty and two counts of burglary, which seems a bit excessive. Irvin also said that he loves animals and that if he’s released from jail, he would steal more. Not the most logical approach to being released, but I give him points for his honesty.

Earthquake Update: The death toll in Turkey and Syria from the devastating earthquakes earlier this week passed 11,000, as rescue crews race against time and dropping temperatures to try and save thousands of people believed to be buried under rubble. The news and footage out of the affected areas is truly horrific
Biden gave his little speech yesterday. I didn’t watch, but I can tell you something he definitely didn’t mention: the jump in Palestinian homes being demolished by Israeli forces. Innocent people are having their homes destroyed by the Israeli apartheid government because they were built without permits. Permits that a 2017 study by the UN described as “virtually impossible” for Palestinians to secure. The increased frequency of home demolitions is part of the new ultranationalist regime’s broader efforts to take control of east Jerusalem
LeGOAT: After 20 years of playing professional basketball, LeBron Raymone James finally broke the NBA career scoring record, overtaking the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with his 38,388th point. The Lakers still somehow managed to lose their game to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but at least King James can relax now. He’s done his part, his team is just that bad
