Tuesday, November 29: More Rail Issues
Had to nap a bit this morning, apologies for the delay nerds
Joseph Robinette Biden will bring this country to its knees before he gives rail workers their fair share. The white house (lowercase to indicate disrespect to the building & office) released this statement yesterday, essentially a full-blown sellout move to preemptively deny railworkers the right to strike.
We’ve discussed the ongoing train debacle before, when the workers first threatened to strike over poor working conditions. Basically, rail workers just want to be able to take a sick day every now and then, a perfectly reasonable request given how much this country relies on their labor. But Ol’ Joey Biden the Union-Busting, Strike-Breaking Sonofabitch said hold on a minute playa, y’all thought you could just be sick?? In this economy??
Biden called on Congress to pass legislation to avoid a strike, the only question is how quickly a bill can come to the floor since technically any senator can object and drag out the process, delaying a quick vote. Personally, I’m watching the good senator from Vermont Bernard Sanders to see if he ruins any effort to get a quick vote.
A rail strike could become a reality as early as December 9th, leading to shortages, spiking prices and halting factory production. It could also disrupt commuter rail services for up to seven million travelers a day and the transportation of 6,300 carloads of food and farm products a day.
Side Items
ACAB: A Virginia cop was killed in a shootout with deputies in California after he murdered the mother and grandparents of a teenage girl he catfished online. If there’s one thing a pig is gonna do, it’s literally the most depraved thing you could ever imagine
White Supremacist Gets Full NYT Spread: The New York Times really felt the need to broadcast and share the thoughts and opinions of white supremacists that Donald Trump hangs out with. I won’t link to it, because I’m not an idiot who promotes dumbass ideologies, but that’s just me I guess
World Cup Recap
Portugal are through to the knockout stages after Cristiano Ronaldo’s phantom goal. It’s perfectly fitting that one of the greatest players in the history of the game would claim a goal that he clearly didn’t touch, the nerve
USA will provide at least one more opportunity to witness how bad their left back is. Antonee Robinson had one of the worst performances I’ve seen in awhile, as the States held on to beat Iran 1-0 in a geopolitical chess match of sorts. This result puts the US through to the final 16, where they’ll face the Netherlands
Brazil are through, even without Neymar. This team is clearly gonna be hard to beat, as they seem to be able to shift and adapt to any team they face
Senegal are going through! It requires no explanation that I’m riding with these guys til the wheels fall off, or until they’re cheated out of a result by some European official
England repeated history by destroying Welsh dreams, winning 3-0 and securing their place in the knockout stages. Meanwhile, Wales will rue their missed opportunities from this tournament on their way back home
