A heavy haze has descended upon the Windy City. The air is thick with smoke and the scent of fire. The sun is out (allegedly), but the sky is gray. Today, thanks to the ongoing Canadian wildfires, Chicago has the worst air quality on the planet (in your face New York).
Separately, but related, today New Orleans will reach 113 degrees. Houston will reach 111. Mobile, Alabam and Jackson, Mississippi will also top 110 degrees. This is the future that we’ve been striding towards all along. An out-of-control societal addiction to oil and gas has contributed to raising temperatures, strengthening storms, and adding fuel to the wildfires that never seem to slow down.
Anyone with heart and lung diseases is advised to avoid time outside, which would be great except for the fact that people still need to work and live their lives. Nobody ever mentioned how inconvenient the climate apocalypse would be (just kidding, that’s exactly what they mentioned).

Justice Denied: Think back a few weeks, we discussed a white woman in Florida who murdered her Black neighbor by shooting her through a closed door after a long-running neighborly feud. Well it turns out officials down in America’s butthole have declined to file murder charges, citing “insufficient evidence”
Chicago Billionaire Checks Out: Adding to the recent absurdity of billionaires dying, a prominent Chicago billionaire was involved in a fatal car crash on Sunday at a racetrack in Colorado. At 70 years old, James Crown probably shouldn’t have been behind the wheel of a race car, but who am I to tell a wealth hoarder how to risk their life
