Tuesday, February 20: Believe Women
Surely Hilary Clinton will be speaking out in support of Palestinian women...right??
A new UN report confirms that every Israeli accusation is in reality an admission of guilt. While the entire western political class was up in arms about the “mass rape” stories spread by the Israeli military after October 7th, Palestinian women and girls have been widely and arbitrarily executed in Gaza. “We are shocked by reports of the deliberate targeting and extrajudicial killing of Palestinian women and children in places where they sought refuge, or while fleeing. Some of them were reportedly holding white pieces of cloth when they were killed by the Israeli army or affiliated forces,” UN experts said.
These experts expressed serious concerns about the random detention of hundreds of Palestinian women and girls, including human rights defenders, journalists and humanitarian workers, in both Gaza and the West Bank since October 7th. Many of these women have been subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment, denied basic necessities like feminine hygiene products, food and medicine. On at least one occasion, Palestinian women detained in Gaza were allegedly kept in a cage in the rain and cold, without food.
“We are particularly distressed by reports that Palestinian women and girls in detention have also been subjected to multiple forms of sexual assault, such as being stripped naked and searched by male Israeli army officers. At least two female Palestinian detainees were reportedly raped while others were reportedly threatened with rape and sexual violence,”
-Report from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
Elsewhere, the International Court of Justice started hearing oral arguments yesterday over the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, bringing the age-old debate before a panel of international judges. At the same time, the US issued its 3rd UN veto in 136 days of genocide, allowing the carnage to continue unimpeded. This veto came against the will of 153 nation states, which is a clear illustration of this country’s strong commitment to ‘democracy’ and ‘western values’. Meanwhile, the apartheid state issued their own response to the ruling of the International Court of Justice by releasing this statement from the office of the prime minister:
“Israel does not recognize the legitimacy of the proceedings of the international court in The Hague regarding 'the legality of the occupation' – which are an effort designed to infringe on Israel's right to defend itself against existential threats.”
If the apartheid state of Israel openly chooses not to recognize the legitimacy of an international court accusing it of occupying and oppressing the Palestinian people, how much longer do we think this charade can go on?
Brazil took the opportunity this week to cut diplomatic relations with the apartheid state of Israel, as Brazilian President Lula da Silva expelled the Israeli ambassador from Brazil and recalled his own ambassador from Tel Aviv. This decision comes days after Lula accurately described what’s taking place in Gaza as a genocide, which naturally didn’t sit well with the architects of said genocide.
Side Items
NYPD Distraction: Yesterday’s side item about the newly-unveiled NYPD dance team was the perfect copaganda distraction from the important story of Geoffrey Paris’ murder by the city’s inept police force. While we cracked jokes about the lack of anything resembling rhythm from the dance team, we forget to mention the recent police murder of a 26 year old in his bedroom. Officers came to his house, lied about the 911 call, and won’t say how many times they shot him. But once the footage of the police department’s embarrassing dance team went public, thoughts on their violent misconduct went out the door
