Biden's loan forgiveness isn't nearly enough, but it's not nothing
The madman Joey B has done it! After months of false hope and walking back his original promises, Biden finally announced his student loan forgiveness plan, and the reactions have been…diverse. On one end of the political spectrum is an army of folks who feel that universal loan forgiveness makes more sense than this iteration of a plan. In their eyes, if Biden has the authority and ability to help out struggling Americans, he has the obligation to do so. On the other end of the spectrum are idiots like this guy, so upset that someone out there might possibly have to struggle less than they did. This mentality that because you went through a hardship, everyone should go through this hardship gives off heavy cop vibes. My advice, abolish your inner cop and let people be happy that their debt has shrunk, and as a general rule, be happy when other people’s lives are made easier.
However, it’s really the middle of the spectrum that matters today. In talking with a few friends who will be affected, it’s clear that the decision to forgive even a portion of their student loans is life-changing. Rather than being buried under the growing interest on tens of thousands of dollars, many of them can now see a path to financial freedom. The predictable reaction of many of the most powerful people in Washington shows just how significant this plan can be.
“Biden’s student loan socialism is a slap in the face to every family who sacrificed to save for college, every graduate who paid their debt and every American who chose a certain career path or volunteered to serve in our Armed Forces in order to avoid taking on debt.”
-republican senate leader/local swamp turtle Mitch McConnell
Think about the logic on display here. In McConnell’s eyes, the 17 year old's ‘volunteering’ to serve in the armed forces in order to avoid debt are really the ones being punished here. How else would they be persuaded to participate in foreign wars?

In today’s edition of F*ck 12 Forever: The Chicago Transit Authority has decided to pay a private security company $30.9 million over the next 18 months in an effort to curb turnstile jumpers. The plan calls for more officers and canine units patrolling the stations. Simple math says this private security company would have to catch 22,000 turnstile jumpers every day to pay for themselves
In this article, the author reviewed 1,182 emergency room bills to get an idea of how unpredictable and prohibitively expensive it is to get emergency medical attention in this country. On the bright side, I’m told universal healthcare would never work in this country, so at least we know this is the best we can do
