Ukrainians can be heroic, but Palestinians doing the same are terrorists
The war between Ukraine and Russia has been front-page news for most of this year, and, unsurprisingly, the majority of the coverage has been decidedly anti-Russian. Yesterday, the New York Times thought it appropriate to publish this article, discussing the role being played by Ukrainian guerrilla fighters or ‘partisans’ as they sneak behind enemy lines and wreak violent mayhem on Russian troops. The article details how these civilians utilize car bombs, booby traps, and targeted killings of suspected collaborators to fight the foreign occupation. The partisans are painted as heroic defenders of the homeland, risking their lives for what they believe is right.
“The goal is to show the occupiers that they are not at home, that they should not settle in, that they should not sleep comfortably.”

Meanwhile, Palestinian defenders and resistance fighters are branded terrorists worthy only of death at the hands of Israel’s vastly superior firepower. While Ukrainian fighters are given billions of dollars in American rocket launchers and munitions, Palestinians are ignored entirely, left throwing rocks, molotov cocktails, whatever makeshift weaponry they can fashion to repel their occupiers. In all honesty, Palestinians being ignored would probably be an upgrade from the current status quo. Instead the US is hell-bent on inundating Israel with moral support and justification for their continued persecution of an occupied population. Whoever said ‘All’s fair in love and war’ was a damn liar. These wars may have some similarities, but there’s nothing resembling fairness in their coverage.

Liz Cheney, who you may recall just lost in her campaign for reelection in Wyoming, has apparently set her sights on another lofty position she has no business in, President of the (formerly) United States. Just like a Cheney to find a way to turn their personal loss into our collective national loss
The hottest summer on record continues in Europe, as countries from Norway to France face drought, heatwaves, and energy shortages. To make matters worse, Russian gas cuts have further contributed to energy deficits and there’s no clear end in sight
A federal judge found three of this country’s largest pharmacy chains complicit in fueling the opioid epidemic. CVS, Walmart, and Walgreens were ordered to pay $650.5 million to two Ohio counties, Lake and Trumbull, that have been seriously affected by the ongoing crisis. Needless to say, the three companies were less than pleased with the verdict
