Sunday, March 5: Bloomberg Weighs In on Apartheid
Let's see what we can we learn from half a dozen failed presidential runs??
Michael Bloomberg (founder of Bloomberg and Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Bloomberg terminals, and probably half a million other things named in his honor), the businessman and former mayor of New York from 2002 to 2013, has some thoughts he’d like you to hear. So guess what, you’re gonna hear them.
Bloomberg had his opinions published in the New York Times this week, the nation’s leader in terrible advice columns and uninformed opinion pieces. He didn’t disappoint, how could he? He apparently jumped at the opportunity to express his undying support for the apartheid state in Israel, but also desperately wants to preserve its “independent judiciary”.
“In more than 20 years of public life, I have steadfastly supported Israel and its people in both word and deed, including by building medical facilities there, co-founding a leadership center, supporting its innovative local programs and funding other good causes. I have never gotten involved in its domestic politics or criticized its government initiatives.”
Man really said, ‘I’ve been watching you guys oppress and murder Palestinians for decades! Y’all were really doing your thing! But now that your apartheid courts are under threat, we should really talk about this’. Notice how he puffed his chest out in mentioning his support for the corrupt and vindictive regime. Of course he had to mention the “shared values” that Israel and the US have, because what’s one settler-colony without its wealthy benefactor?
“Israel’s security is based partly on a relationship with the United States built on shared values — freedom, equality, democracy — that can only be sustained by a commitment to the rule of law, including an independent judiciary capable of upholding it.”
Bloomie goes on for another 14-20 paragraphs, extolling the virtues of apartheid Israel and waxing poetics on what the future may hold. The only time he mentions Palestine in his diatribe is very much in passing, and only with a casual reference to “the Palestinian conflict”. Someone get this man a history lesson with great haste!
Fortunately, I have no allegiance or loyalty to the Bloom-dawg. I’m just as happy getting my financial news from my current source, my bank account.

Chicago Cop Union Leader: Chicago's cop union (aka the pig pickin’) once again elected John Catanzara as their leader; a domestic abuser accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend and breaking into her home, a dude fired from his job as a school resource officer, a so-called man stripped of his police powers after decades of misconduct. Awesome
Immigration Punishment Gone Wrong: A 13-year-old girl was one of dozens of kids cleaning slaughterhouses owned by JBS, the world's biggest meatpacker. When her situation came to light, prosecutors didn't charge JBS or its contractor as they should, but they put the little girl's dad in jail and may deport him. A broken immigration system for a rapidly breaking empire
