Every day for over a month I’ve watched the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen before and every day our politicians and media make excuses for it and tell us that actually, it’s the people expressing outrage over it that are the real problem. It’s a level of global gaslighting I didn’t think was possible.
It’s not complicated in the slightest. I think if anyone you know sees this video of people (mostly children) evacuating a hospital and being shot at by apartheid-defending Israeli forces and thinks its fine, thats a pretty clear cut reason to jettison that person from your life completely. Doctors Without Borders can recognize genocide when people are being shot at as they attempt to flee a hospital, which is generally meant to be a place of refuge. There’s simply no excuse. If you support this I don’t want to know you or have you feature in my life at all. Over at Shifa Hospital, five patients have already died after the generator shut down, including a premature baby, according to Medhat Abbas, a spokesman for the Health Ministry.
The scenes of hundreds of Gazans forced to flee south are sickening to witness. It’s absolutely unconscionable that the international community is doing nothing to stop this. It’s rage that isn’t articulable, watching the worst kind of history being repeated in realtime and seeing western politicians cheer it on.
With each passing day, the story of Netanyahu rejecting any hostage negotiations with Hamas seems more like an active choice to forcibly enter Gaza and cause as much displacement and destruction as possible, risking the lives of those very hostages in the process. In Israel, the new terrorism-related charges are being tested by hundreds of people. Among Israel's 146 criminal investigations since Oct 7 for speech offenses: One guy posted on Instagram “The eye weeps for the residents of Gaza.” 40 minutes later, 20 pigs came to his house to arrest him for ‘supporting a terrorist organization’.
Keep in mind some of the people providing the most crucial coverage of this genocide are just kids. Motaz Azaiza, arguably the most prominent photojournalist capturing footage on the ground in Gaza, initially wanted to be a photographer and all his work before October was creative and artistic and now he’s stuck filming and photographing the dead bodies of his people just for the world to question the bodycount. He’s 24. Another prominent journalist documenting the day-to-day in Gaza is Plestia, 22. If they’d had a choice they would’ve preferred to be like most other people in their 20’s, but these kids weren’t given any choice.
Protesters in Australia got the job done as only they could, occupying a harbor with dozens of jet skis mate (try saying that in an Aussie accent). Protesters in London and Glasgow are turning out in massive numbers once again. Don’t stop talking about Palestine, don’t stop thinking about Palestine.
