I do not care about the British royal family, same as most mentally competent people. A bunch of hoity-toity powdered wigs strolling around in absurd costumes and decked out in stolen jewelry? I think I’ll pass.
Yet all across the crumbling British empire today, people are shouting “God save the king”. The subject of their exuberance is a 74 year old with fingers that resemble sausages to an abnormal degree. Bit pathetic if you ask me.
The king’s popularity is far from what it once was. In a recent poll of 3,070 adults in Britain, 64% of respondents said they had little to no interest in today’s coronation.
An extravagant and wasteful coronation for a new king does make for a jarring viewing experience while “Commonwealth” nations continue to call for Britain to redress its colonialist legacy and the country reckons with a brutal cost-of-living crisis. Some say it’s possible to be fascinated by the pageantry while remaining skeptical of it, but my only interest is in how the dissenting Brits choose to voice their displeasure. If it’s anything like the chants you hear at soccer matches, it’s plenty to upset the celebration of a royal toad.

Ed Sheeran Escapes Charges: The famous red-haired crooner was found not liable for copying Marvin Gaye’s 1973 classic for his catchy litttle “Thinking Out Loud” love ballad. This was undoubtedly one of the music industry’s highest-profile copyright case in years, but it truly seemed like a waste of time and legal fees. The two songs don’t particularly sound alike, and it would set a dangerous precedent for future music-makers if we limit what they can sample or mimic in their work
TurboTax is a Scam: Millions of Americans who supposedly qualified for free tax services, but were instead deceived into paying TurboTax for processing their returns, will soon get settlement checks in the mail! In a settlement last year, TurboTax’s owner Intuit Inc. was ordered to pay $141 million to 4.4 million people across the country. According to NY attorney general Letitia James, those impacted were low-income consumers eligible for free, federally-supported tax services, but paid TurboTax to file their federal returns during the 2016, 2017 and 2018 tax years due to “predatory and deceptive marketing”
