Saturday, January 6: Uninhabitable City
3 years after a meth-induced insurrection, what are we even doing folks?
Western headlines today will be dominated by political talking heads reminiscing on the failed government overthrow three years ago by Donald Trump and his moronic band of misfits and losers. But despite Trump looking like the most likely republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election, his winning or losing isn’t the most pressing news of the day. Not by a long shot.
The people of Gaza are facing, “daily threats to their very existence”, according to the UN humanitarian chief. Martin Griffiths described Gaza as “uninhabitable” three months into Israel’s attacks on the besieged enclave. Famine and mass starvation are on the horizon and a public health disaster is actively unfolding before our eyes. In a sobering assessment of the devastating impact of the apartheid state’s military actions, Griffiths said that Gaza’s 2.3 million people are under constant attack.
If you think back just a few weeks to the horrifying photos of Palestinian men lined up in their undergarments by the genocidal Israeli military, this article features interviews with four Palestinian civilians who appeared in these photos. According to their testimony (not to mention the obviously criminal nature of the photos), their experience at the hands of Israeli forces involved systematic abuse and torture by soldiers against all of the detainees, civilians and combatants alike.
This article from The Intercept provides helpful background information on the rules that dictate western coverage of Israel’s criminal activity. Like all foreign news organizations operating in the apartheid state, CNN’s Jerusalem bureau is subject to the rules of the IDF’s censor, which dictates what subjects are off-limits for news organizations to cover in the first place. So it should come as no surprise that outlets like CNN or Fox are choosing the easier path by running three year old wall-to-wall coverage of some idiots climbing over barricades and aimlessly wandering through government buildings.

14 Months for Murder: An ex-Colorado police officer was sentenced to 14 months in jail this week for his role in the death of Elijah McClain. You might recall McClain as the 23-year-old murdered by police on Aug. 24, 2019, in a case that received little attention at the time, but gained national interest the following year. Randy Roedema was the most senior “law enforcement” member to initially respond to the scene where McClain was suffering a mental health emergency. A jury convicted Roedema back in October of criminally negligent homicide, which is a felony, and third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor, but he’s the only one found guilty so far. after hearing the young Black man’s mother on Friday call the officer a “bully with a badge” who will always have blood on his hands.
Choking on Death: US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was hospitalized earlier this week due to complications following a minor elective medical procedure. The air force press secretary confirmed vague details yesterday, five days after Austin first checked in, so it must be serious. With any luck, 2024 will prominently feature the downfall of many high-powered military figures
