Monday, November 21: Supreme Leaks
The highest court in this country is being bought by stealth missionaries
This weekend the New York Times released a report detailing just how transparently corrupt and subject to leaks the supreme court is. As you may recall, earlier this spring there was a draft opinion leaked regarding the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Thickening the plot for us is a former anti-abortion leader who has come forward claiming that another breach occurred way back in 2014, in another landmark case involving contraception and religion.
Rev. Rob Schenck said he was told the outcome of the 2014 Hobby Lobby case weeks before it was announced. He used that information to prepare a PR push and said that at the last minute he tipped off the president of Hobby Lobby, the craft store chain owned by Christian evangelicals that was the winning party in the case. Mr. Schenck said he learned about the Hobby Lobby opinion because he had worked for years to exploit the court’s permeability. He gained access through faith, through little favors traded with gatekeepers and through wealthy donors to his organization, abortion opponents whom he called “stealth missionaries.” (lol)
Both of these court decisions were triumphs for conservatives and the religious right, and conveniently, both majority opinions were written by Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. aka Mr. Messy. On a long list of people responsible for this country’s downfall, Mr. Alito’s name sits right near the top.

Qatar Makes History: In the esteemed 92-year history of the World Cup, no host nation has ever done what Qatar managed to do yesterday. In front of a massive amped-up crowd hoping to see a promising start the hosts instead lost convincingly to Ecuador 2-0 in a game that’ll have Qatari fans begging for a refund. The ‘reigning Asian champs’ were absolutely toothless in their gameplan, unable to string together three passes without turning the ball over and scrambling back on defense. Both Ecuadorian goals were scored by the legendary Enner Valencia, a man who once faked an injury and left a World Cup qualifying game in an ambulance to avoid getting arrested for failing to pay child support. The bigger problem for Qatar is that their remaining games are supposed to be even more challenging, but it’s just further proof that you can’t buy talent
RIP to the Greatest Power Ranger: Jason David Frank, the man with three first names, who played Tommy the Green Ranger and later the immaculate White Ranger on the unforgettable 90’s children’s TV show “The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers,” died unexpectedly this weekend at the age of 49. He’s not someone I’ve thought about recently, but he was always the coolest and cleanest of the Rangers
Ye is Back: Cuz I guess when you’re cooking, you might as well cook with toxic gas. The slippery snake that slithered out of his emerald mine chamber of secrets chose to give Kanye access to the social media site again. Kanye repaid the favor by immediately returning to his antisemitic trolling, tweeting out “Shalom : ) "
World Cup Wrap-Up
Other than Qatar being exposed as frauds, this morning featured England playing against Iran, where England revealed themselves to be true contenders, putting three first half goals away to secure a comfortable victory. Next up:
USA vs. Wales: I predict a surprisingly strong Welsh showing sets the US back in their rusty opening showing, 2-1 to the Dragons
Senegal vs. Netherlands: the Senegalese will be missing Sadio Mane’s attacking prowess. The Dutch will comfortably win, 2-0
Argentine vs. Saudi Arabia: Messi vs. the Marwans. Honestly if the Saudi’s don’t lose by 15 I’ll be disappointed
