Monday, November 14: Should He Run Again?
Biden turns 80 next week, is it wise to have a geriatric & mentally unwell leader?
Short answer: Nope
Longer answer: Please, let this sleepy old man rest. He looks so tired! He needs some warm milk and a nice Reader’s Digest to flip through. He shouldn’t be out there, meeting with foreign leaders and immediately forgetting their names. He doesn’t need to be speaking in front of cameras every day, trying to piece together a coherent sentence to prove his doubters wrong. He could be finger painting through retirement like the war criminal George Bush, or he could open up a foundation in his hometown for local residents to organize against, like the other war criminal Obama. He doesn’t need to be in the highest office in the land, and we certainly don’t need him there.
Side Items
Strange Tragedy in Idaho & Shooting at UVA: A shooting was reported late last night on the University of Virginia’s campus. So far, at least three people have been killed and two others injured, although it’s not clear if the victims were students. The gunman, still at large, has been identified as a student at the university who is considered armed & dangerous. Separately, four people were found dead in a home close to the University of Idaho campus yesterday, as police open an investigation into the unfortunate loss of life
World Cup Preview
Wales: In their first World Cup in 64 years, the Welsh Dragons are looking to make some noise. Being in a group with the US, England, and Iran, they have a fighting chance of progressing. Led by Gareth Bale, whose best playing days are just behind him, the team features an assortment of dudes, some with top-league experience, some from as low as the fourth-tier professional leagues. Personally, I love an underdog, and I’m certainly not gonna root for the English, so I’ll throw some support behind the Welsh, hopefully they can embarrass their neighbors once more
Mexico: Viva Mexico! Much is expected of El Tri this tournament, as fans complain of the “fourth game curse”, or Mexico’s inability to progress past the Round of 16. Since 1994 Mexico has made it out of their group every World Cup, only to get bounced in their first knockout game. True fans may recall the iconic “no era penal” game against the Netherlands in 2014, when a late penalty doomed Mexico to an early exit. This time, Mexico has a survivable group featuring Saudi Arabia, Poland and Argentina. Hopefully the team can string together a few wins and break that damn fourth game curse
Croatia: The finalists in the 2018 World Cup, the Croatians are captained and anchored by one of the most talented midfielders in the world today, Luka Modric. Alongside their leader, the Croatian midfield boasts world-class talents like Mateo Kovacic and Ivan Perisic. The real questions will come at their back line’s ability to slow down Canada, Belgium, and Morocco. My bet would be on Belgium winning this group, with Croatia moving on as the group’s second place winner
Cowboys Lost: I don’t make a habit of watching American football, for good reason, (too little action, too many commercials, pants too tight, refs always weighing in, players penalized for celebrating, CTE, etc.) BUT I always make time to enjoy when the Dallas Cowboys lose. If you know a Cowboys fan, make their day a little worse today and ask how their weekend was, allow them to relive their team’s failure and bask in their frustrated screeches of how “next year is our year”
