Monday, July 3: Proud Defenders of Apartheid
Some people truly are built different...(not a compliment)
Apartheid Israeli soldiers deployed lethal force and struck targets with drones in what they describe as a militant stronghold in the occupied West Bank early this morning. Hundreds of corrupt and sadistic troops descended upon the Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin in an invasion that resembled the wide-scale military operations carried out during the Second Intifada uprising two decades ago. Palestinian health officials said at least eight Palestinians were killed and dozens more wounded. Troops remained inside the Jenin refugee camp at midday, pushing ahead with the largest operation in the area in recent months.
Residents said electricity was cut off in some parts and military bulldozers plowed through narrow streets, intentionally destroying roads and damaging buildings as they cleared the way for Israeli forces. The Palestinians along with neighboring Jordan and Egypt and the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned the violence. Meanwhile, Israeli defense minister and proud defender of apartheid Yoav Gallant said that the operation was “proceeding as planned,” but provided no indication as to when the incursion would end.
More than 130 Palestinians have been killed this year in the West Bank, part of more than a yearlong spike in violence that has seen some of the worst bloodshed in the region in nearly 20 years. Palestinian attacks against occupying Israelis have killed 24 people since the start of this year.
And there’s no end in sight.
Side Items
NASCAR Fyre Fest: The rain was relentless, the conditions abhorrent, and mother nature simply did NOT want to listen to race car engines. The first (and possibly last) NASCAR race through downtown Chicago was a spectacular failure. The specially-designed race cars that were meant to fly through the heart of the city were instead subjected to the same traffic difficulties that so many of us face on a daily basis. The crowds were so sparse, you almost had to feel sorry for the people who spent money to attend such an event. But much like Fyre Fest of years past, it’s occasionally nice to see the worst decision-makers finding themselves to blame for such an embarrassing spectacle
New Family: Shoutout to my older sister for adding to the family ranks with my newest nephew, He Who Shall Not Be Named Eissa! Both baby and mother are healthy and happy, apart from the fact that the child was born before a name could be selected by the council of elders (my sister, her husband, my parents, etc.)
