Happy MLK Day folks! Hopefully your workplace has given you the day off to recover and perhaps try and warm yourself during this frigid spell of weather.
As we gear up for the dreaded upcoming election season, Joey Biden currently has secured "the lowest approval rating since former President George W. Bush from 2006 to 2008". Of course, approval ratings are a fickle beast, but we’re talking about a historically unpopular president here folks. He’ll spend the next several months stuttering his way through stump speeches and trying desperately to convince Americans that he’s the only thing standing between us and full-blown fascism. He’ll do all this while still finding time to fund and support a campaign of ethnic cleansing that’s being live-streamed around the world. Quite the multi-tasker that Joey B.
While the US government is hell bent on continuing to support a genocide in Gaza, the honorable people of Yemen have not been deterred from their quest of standing beside Palestine. So much for deterrance, the Yemenis haven’t simply sat back and allowed the US to airstrike them. In their first military response since the US strikes last week, Yemeni rebels fired off missiles at a US warship positioned in the Red Sea. We’re slowly edging towards a wider regional conflict, all because this country insists on supporting the corrupt regime of an apartheid state.
Here’s a fun little Monday activity for you: Some people find the idea of comparing zionists and Nazis not just innaccurate, but weirdly offensive. This quiz provides an opportunity to see how alike they really are! Read the quotes and try to guess if they were said by a prominent zionist or a prominent Nazi. The results may surprise you.
As Marc Lamont Hill said: “this MLK Day, let’s try and remember Martin Luther King as he truly was: A Black radical anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, revolutionary Christian internationalist who was deemed an enemy of the State and assassinated for his radical work. Just about everything else is a lie.”

Classic Cowboys L: As you may be aware, I don’t particularly care for American football, but anytime “America’s Team®” catches an embarrassing, season-ending L, you already know I’m tuned in. Yesterday the boys from Dallas celebrated MLK Day early by losing to the Green Bay Packers, 48-32. These goofballs let Wisconsin cheese-heads come into their home stadium and hang 48 points on them, the first 27 of which went unanswered. The Packers beat the Cowboys so bad, there were reports that it started snowing in Dallas last night. It’ll be another long offseason of Dallas fans pining for success they haven’t experienced in 30 years, they’ll be forced to wipe their tears with their jean shorts
Bone-Cracking Cold: It’s cold out there folks. Below zero temperatures across much of the US resulted in millions of people facing teeth-rattling cold as Arctic storms knocked out electricity to tens of thousands up in the Northwest, and blanketed much of the Midwest with snow. Approximately 95 million people across the country faced weather warnings or winter advisories this weekend for wind chills below zero Fahrenheit. In Chicago, the snow is minimal, but the temperature is hovering around -5°F, with the wind chill dropping the temperature to ~25° below zero
Violent Climate Activism: This interview with “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” author Andreas Malm is full of golden tidbits, including his opinions on when violent political action is justified and how to practice this activism in our daily lives. It’s not for everyone, but it’s undoubtedly relevant in these times
