Monday, February 12: Super Bowl Genocide
The bombing only increases when we're distracted by sporting pageantry
Hope you enjoyed the Super Bowl! Gaza is still under attack.
While half of the country was distracted and paying attention to some guys chasing each other on a field, two (2) things were taking place. In the hallowed halls of American democracy, the US senate was meeting in a rare Sunday session, hashing out the details of a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. The senate was able to pass an additional $14 billion in aid for the apartheid state. While they discussed funding these forever conflicts and the ongoing genocide, Israel was doing more of its dirty work, unleashing hell on the overcrowded Palestinian people in Rafah.
So we’re clear, this current bombing of Rafah, the last refuge of over a million Palestinians, is a world-historic crime taking place before our very eyes. After four months of airstrikes and starvation and disproportionate levels of violence, and after the death toll from Israel’s attacks jumped to over 28,340 Palestinians with another 67,984 wounded at least, they started dropping bombs on the only place Palestinian refugees thought was safe.
Every politician who failed to call for a ceasefire is complicit. Every celebrity who failed to use their platform to advocate for a ceasefire is complicit. Every single member of the media who defended and ran cover for this is complicit. The genocide of Palestinians will be televised and broadcast directly to your phone. While you scroll through videos documenting the carnage, be sure to scroll on over to Joe Biden’s account, where he’s oddly gloating about his contribution through memes. I can’t stress enough to you, dear reader, how much I’m hoping this man suffers catastrophic organ failure in the immediate future. I hope his demise is incredibly painful and very public.
Separately, according to Israeli sources which I can not stress enough, should NEVER be believed without further research, Israeli military forces claim to have rescued two of their hostages early this morning, storming a heavily-guarded apartment in Gaza and extracting the captives under fire in a dramatic raid that’s already being scripted for movies I’m sure. It’s an incredibly small but nonetheless symbolically significant achievement for the apartheid state, which you’ll recall had yet to successfully rescue a single solitary hostage prior to these reports. The heavy airstrikes that provided cover for this operation killed a paltry and scarcely mentionable 67 Palestinians at least.
This ‘hostage rescue’ operation will be hailed as a massive success in the apartheid state, a captive relief mission in spite of or because of the 67 Palestinians who were killed as a result of the diversion bombardment. After this operation, Netanyahu doubled down saying this is the only way to win the war and bring back the hostages. He’s clearly going to use this operation to justify a further ground offensive on Rafah, demonstrating what kind of death and damage he’s willing and happy to inflict on innocent Palestinians just to get part of a goal accomplished.
To top it all off, the apartheid state and its supporters aired an ad during the game yesterday, doing their best to facilitate further support for genocide during a football game. People claimed that sports weren’t the place for politics with Kaepernick, but they turned right around and ran ads for apartheid in between a commercial featuring beer horses and friendly aliens. So many of us, I include myself first and foremost, are clinging desperately to our meaningless entertainment as our tax dollars actively fund the extermination of a people with nowhere left to go.
It’s almost funny how that works. Almost.
Side Items
49’s Lose Again: The big football game resulted in yet another championship victory for 28 year old Patrick Mahomes and the team from Kansas City, who beat San Francisco in overtime 25-22. Mahomes further solidified his status as a young legend in the making and Taylor Swift fans had almost all their prayers answered as the mayo-queen descended from the luxury skylounge to bless the field after the game in celebration with her boyfriend. The entire evening really could’ve been scripted and rigged in her favor
Only Good Ad: At my big age I’m not really one for most Super Bowl commercials, but I’ll admit I did get a little excited by another film in the ‘Twister’ franchise. I’m not sure who went to the studio execs in Hollywood and pitched the idea of a film based around multiple twisters, but sign me up! RIP Bill Paxton
Megachurch Shooting: Police in Texas said a woman with rifle was killed by 2 off-duty police officers at the megachurch of snaggle-toothed televangelist Joel Osteen. A young child accompanying the woman was also wounded in the incident, and is currently in critical condition. Houston’s mayor John Whitmire thought it prudent to say, “It’s unfortunate that on the day we want to attend church and watch America’s No. 1 sports event, we find ourselves gathered here to respond to this tragedy.” This country is often a sad joke
