Dianne Feinstein, the senator from California and longest-serving woman in the senate died at the age of 90. I’m sure some folks will remember her for her accomplishments (whatever they may be), but I’ll always remember how she condescendingly explained to school children that the Green New Deal was a waste and that she “knows what she’s doing”.
Feinstein was a multi-millionaire who could’ve spent the last 10-15 years enjoying her millions while being spoon-fed caviar or something, but instead she continued to do what most senators in this country do…enrich themselves and avoid improving American quality of life. It’s not just her, I’m sure Mitch McConnell could be knocking on deaths door in a matter of weeks, or Chuck Grassley (god willing), or any number of senile, self-important, past-their-prime politicians who maintain a hold on this country’s trajectory.
Feinstein was in her final days and her staff was really committing elder abuse, just strapping her into a wheelchair, pushing her up and down hallways, rolling her into elevators, whispering what year it was in her ear, and making her hold documents. At least we can take comfort knowing that she died doing what she loved: being entirely incapable of comprehending what was going on around her while maintaining one of the most powerful positions in American government.

NYC Flooding: New York governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency across New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley due to the extreme rainfall throughout the region. The videos coming out of NYC are wild, but not surprising. The heavy rain has led to flash flooding across the city, overwhelming roads and serving as a reminder that our current infrastructure is not prepared for what’s to come
Louisiana Saltwater: Ol’ Joey Biden chose to declare a federal emergency yesterday for a saltwater intrusion that’s threatening New Orleans' drinking water infrastructure. A lack of rainfall in the Mississippi River Valley has led to lower levels of fresh water in the Mississippi River, allowing saltwater to flow upstream. The threat of saltwater has led folks to a run on water bottles with many residents concerned they may lose access to drinkable water in the coming days
Pakistan Bombing: A pair of blasts in southwestern Pakistan killed over 50 people and wounded dozens more who were celebrating the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday. The attack was suspected to be a suicide bombing during a holiday known as Mawlid an-Nabi, when many Muslim communities hold celebrations or parades. Suspicion for the attack is most likely to fall on the group known as the Islamic State in Khorasan Province
