Brazilian Heat: Firefighters were fighting fires in Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia this week, with flames catalyzed by strong winds and unseasonably high temperatures. While it’s still technically the final days of winter in Brazil, the country has come close to recording its highest temperature in history (!!!). On the first days of spring in South America, temperatures could reach as high as 113°F (45°C)
Traphouse Daycare: A New York City traphouse was fronting as a daycare center, or possibly the other way around. An apartment was searched this week where a toddler died and three others were exposed to opioids last week, and officers found hiding bags of fentanyl under a trap door in the children’s play area. The drugs, including a large quantity of fentanyl and related paraphernalia, were concealed by a plywood and tile flooring. Images shared by law enforcement showed bags full of powder inside the “trap floor” a few steps from a shelf of children’s toys. Reallll sketchy behavior on display here, no place for this kinda criminality
Liverpool Europa League: The Reds kicked off their participation yesterday in Europe’s eminent competition, the UEFA Europa League! I didn’t call it Europe’s preeminent competition, because that would refer to the UEFA Champions League, which Liverpool sadly didn’t qualify for this year. So we get the leftover tournament for the other decent squads in Europe. Yesterday’s opponent was the Austrian club LASK (please don’t ask me what it stands for, ok fine it’s Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub). The roster Liverpool featured was a mix of veterans and young lads still trying to find their place in this year’s squad, and the shaky first half was clear indication of that. Liverpool eventually erased a 1-0 halftime deficit to finish the match 3-1 with goals from Darwizzy Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Mohamed Salah
