Friday, December 1: Back to Business
November flew by like a Nissan Altima on the highway with no plates
It was never going to stay peaceful for very long my friends.
Just minutes after the weeklong truce expired in Gaza earlier today, the apartheid state of Israel resumed its campaign of airstrikes and ethnic cleansing. Black smoke poured out of the besieged territory, and Israel took time to drop leaflets over Gaza City and southern parts of the area, urging civilians to leave their homes to avoid the fighting. Still no word on where these hundreds of thousands of civilians are meant to go since the entire region is blockaded.
Hamas freed two more Israeli women yesterday and more hostage releases were expected to follow, but no sooner had Antony Blinken pulled up to visit the apartheid state than hostilities continued once again. The first killings, numbering in the dozens, resulting from Israeli air strikes and artillery fire throughout Gaza, have already been reported. And the constant thoughts of death and fear of what tomorrow’s news may bring return with the bombs and bullets.
Qatar, which has been serving as a mediator of sorts along with Egypt, said negotiators between Hamas and Israel were still trying to reestablish and restart the “ceasefire”. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry called out the apartheid state’s role in the resumption of fighting and said Israel “complicates mediation efforts and exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe”, which shouldn’t come as any surprise if you’ve been paying attention.
Hours after the genocide continued, the murderous Israeli military released a map carving up Gaza into hundreds of little numbered parcels and informed residents they should familiarize themselves with the number related to their location in case of an eventual evacuation. The map was crudely drawn, with some lines cutting across streets, and the apartheid state claims that the map will eventually be interactive. Clearly this is an initiative that Israel has been planning for some time. It’s not immediately clear how Palestinians would be updated on calls for evacuation considering there’s still no cell service…
My guess is there will be little to no soul-searching among US liberals with regards to what’s unfolding in Gaza. People are realizing that they've spent weeks trying to find some elusive middle ground between a totally correct and necessary call for ceasefire and a continuation of genocidal zionism and Israeli fascism. There were times in my life where I thought this would be an easy decision for people to make, but once again I’m mistaken.
