Russia and Ukraine are currently battling one another in the shadow of the Zaporizhzhia power plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Needless to say, any wrong move could lead to toxic levels of radiation being released into the atmosphere. As we learned from nuclear accidents like Chernobyl and Fukushima, once the radiation is released, there’s no controlling where it might go. Radioactive dust could be carried by a strong gust of wind or material could seep into the ground, contaminating drinking water and further worsening the crisis.
“Think about the future of our Earth, about the future of our and your children! Our planet is so small and it is illogical to assume that it will be possible to hide somewhere from the consequences of a significant nuclear catastrophe.”
-Telegram post from power plant workers at Zaporizhzhia
To make matters worse, both Russia and Ukraine claim the other side is preparing to attack the power plant. To be clear, any attack on the plant would likely lead to the worst nuclear disaster in human history. Earlier this week, the Russian Foreign Minister rejected calls to create a demilitarized zone around the facility. The coming days could prove fateful in determining how this conflict (and maybe human civilization as we know it) will end.

After much deliberation, the NFL finally reached a settlement with Deshaun Watson, the scumbag/quarterback with 20+ sexual misconduct allegations. The new penalty for his years of disgusting behavior is an 11-game suspension (up from six games), as well as a $5 million fine (shouldn’t be an issue considering he’ll be making ~$46 million a year for the next four years). This is further evidence that the NFL is a classless business disguised as a sports league
HBO is releasing the much-anticipated prequel series to “Game of Thrones”, the show for people who like nudity and dragons but also enjoy frozen zombies. Personally, I have no intention of watching it, but I’m sure I’ll hear about how great it is from all the folks preparing to make it one of their personality traits
Here’s a really interesting piece on Dan Price, CEO of a small company and social media personality with a history of mistreating women and belittling employees. It’s a story on the opposite of being canceled, as Price has largely been embraced online for his empowering messages, despite having prior accusations of domestic violence and sexual misconduct
